Events' collage of 2016

These are the events we proposed in 2016

2016 was a year full of events. In addition to the traditional Linux Day in October, the year immediately opened with interesting meetings for all tastes.

The season opened in March with a rich series of events:

  • Embedded Linux: a very small penguin with Luca Ceresoli who illustrated how Linux is used in embedded systems and how to use Buildroot to give life to an ARM board.

  • Introduction to Linux was an introductory evening on Linux and free software.

  • Community Wi-Fi networks: how they work (Ninux) with Davide Rossin, an active member of BgLUG, who spoke about the topic of community Wi-Fi networks and the concept of mesh network.

We then continued in April with two meetings on making held by FABLAB Bergamo.

  • 3D printing course with Open Source tools with Simone Branchi who introduced us to the fascinating world of 3D printing made with Open Source tools. The meeting took place over two evenings.

The following month, at the end of May, following the Linux Presentation Day, a:

  • Installation Party was held with the entire BGlug team working to help anyone who wanted to install a Linux system on their PC.

In June, two more events:

  • Do-it-yourself media center on the use of media centers, very easily installed on Raspberry PI

  • NethServer, the easy-to-use Linux server distribution with the founders of the software house who illustrated the qualities of the Nethserver solution, at Artilab.

The summer ended at Polaresco with a meeting on:

  • Bitcoin, what it is and how to use it with David Rossin who talked about the technology related to Bitcoin.

In October, a double edition of Linux Day took place: in parallel with the official one, a second, smaller and reserved for the Albino comprehensive school was held, in which some Bglug members participated as speakers.

Two other events closed the year:

  • oVirt - Open your virtual datacenter with Simone Tiraboschi and Andrea Flori, on the use of oVirt, a virtualization platform with multiple features, based on KVM.

  • Low-level code optimization with Carlo Milanesi on the performance optimization techniques used by compilers or programmers in system programming languages.

See you next year, don’t miss it!!!
